Putin Arrives Delhi as BRICS Faces Global Test

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in New Delhi for a BRICS summit taking place at a difficult geopolitical moment. The meeting could test whether the expanded group can turn its growing influence into common action.

Putin arrived in New Delhi on September 11 ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled for September 12–13. He is expected to hold bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside his summit engagements.

India is hosting the summit under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” BRICS now has 11 members and represents about 40% of global GDP.
